Librarywala.com – a Great way to Read!
The minute I read about libraraywala.com, I knew that it was the perfect answer to my ‘buy- read – and then do what?’ problem. Every time I am in a bookstore, I’m not worrying about my credit card bill, but about where I will find storage for my new books. Also while I am an avid reader, I don’t have to own a kazillion book since I don’t re-read books too often (there are so many books to read… how does one finds time to re-read something?).
So having an online library with hundreds of titles, queing my books and keeping them for as long as I want was Awesome! I got a free trial membership for a month and tried my hand at the model and totally loved it! I even found a ready to que copy of a ‘difficult to find’ book (Haroun and the Sea of Tales by Salman Rushdie). The pick up and drop is hassle free and the delivery boy is courteous and calls before the pick up
The membership plans are probably a little pricey compared to your local physical library (the cheapest plan will see you putting out Rs 499 as registration, Rs 499 as a refundable security deposit and a monthly charge of Rs 139 = Rs 1137), but having the convenience of getting the books at your doorstep is worth the extra cost.
Librarywala currently operates in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore and has plans to grow to other cities soon. So if you are in these cities and are a book lover… try it!
This is a great website I just went through it. The price is alright for the convenience. Great idea. Have you tried ‘Kindle’?
Hey Suneeta! I agree… in the cheapest plan one can order 2 books in a month and keep them as long as needed.
And no…I have not tried the Kindle (I’ve seen my cousin’s and totally loved it!). But the international edition is just too expensive for India right now. The Pi is much more affordable. I’m thinking about it… lets see

Librarywala only wants to make money without providing any service.I never got books on time and they intended to charge me for the months I dint use their service at all !!! At times I also called them 4-5 times to get 1 book delivered. I have closed my account after a horrible experience, but I am yet to get my refund despite repeated reminders. In short, just avoid this service.
Hi Urek, sorry to hear about your terrible experience. Which city are you in? My experience for Mumbai has been quite good. The service is good – with prompt pick up & drops. The only problem I have is that many books in my que don’t become available for long periods of time
Hi Urek,

Service was Ok not bad. Now I have closed my account .
the day i closed the account the books which were with me were taken from me immediately
But till date its been more than 6 months ,the advance amount has not been refunded despite repeated reminders.
For the same amount what we pay to Librarywala we can buy books and read.
Please dont use the service
Hi Shruti,
Sorry to hear about your experience. It’s sad to hear that they are not refunding your money! Maybe you can write into hitenturakhia@gmail.com and see if he can resolve the issue.
I just renewed my membership with them. For me, it has been great. I have read over 20 books in the 6 month membership and feel that even if they don’t refund my money, it would have been worth it!
Take care

@Urek & @shruthi :
Same experience I have which continues till date. They have still not refunded the money citing non returning of book. Inspite of repeatedly asking them to pick up the book , no-one came to pick up the book at my place . And now they wont Refund me since according to them , “I didnt return the overdue book”!
Def it is a way of making money and duping customers. Please dont join this service.

Hi Sapna,
We have checked our records in regards to your query and here’s how it pans-out:
Your account was due for renewal on 27th Feb. We had sent you numerous emails requesting for the renewal – to which we did not receive a response. Post that, we tried calling you, but your phone wouldn’t get through.
Followed by this, we had a pick up request from you on 25th May only. And hence as the book was with you from Feb 27th to May 25th, we charged you for the same appropriately.
After the pick up request was made by you, our delivery boy had gone to your residence 4 times, but your brother and mother weren’t aware of where the book was. Finally, we got the book back on July 16th.
We have emailers and pick up request details from your accounts with us, in case, you would like us to confirm the same for you. In such a case scenario, please tell me, how are we duping customers by keeping their money?
We are sending her a cheque of Rs. 49 in lieu of your account overdue issue. Kindly request you to consider the same.
Please give us an opportunity to serve you once again, and we shall do so with utmost sincerity and dedication, as always.
Thanks & regards,
Hiten Turakhia
Hello Mr Turakhia
Got your cheque of “49″ Rs. Just to let you know that —> when I asked my brother had he ever refused to give a book away to your delivery man , his answer was No !
The book was always there in the living room of our house to return But according to my brother , no one ever came to Pick up the book during all those months from Feb to July!!!
Your delivery man Lies big time and you expect us to believe your version of the story !
I have No doubt that you are lying about when I scheduled to pick up the book on 25th May . Maybe I scheduled to pick it up earlier!
Please dont dupe your customers next time because you never know when you get a Bad publicity from whom!
Your team of Librarywalas are a lying bunch of hypocrites who dupe customers just for mere hundred rupees! You guys have no respect for the customers and start defending yourself at the drop of a hat!
All the Hottest Startup Awards that Librarywala has got will go down the drain if you keep on continuing this Falsehood and cheat customers of their money!
Your Unethical way of doing business will surely take a long way ?!
Thanks.
